Ukraine's female pop icon Ruslana is using her celebrity for for a very good cause.
A big "Brava" to her for putting out this video and raising awareness of the scourge of human trafficking.
The lack of comments at the video site drove home to me that human trafficking, especially for purposes of sexual exploitation, is one of the few remaining "taboo" topics in today's society.
Perhaps that's because it so clearly illustrates the barbarity of contemporary society ... and the reality that despite being more liberal, we are not really as advanced a society as we may like to think.

Dimanasus Prophecy, A Movie About Human Trafficking in Belarus and Ukraine
(Minsk, Belarus - 21 February 2008) Young Belarusian movie-maker Dzmitry Alyaksandravich Vasilyeu, a resident of Minsk, Belarus, is working on the production of a movie called Dimanasus Prophecy about the tragic consequences of human trafficking. Vasilyeu, a graduate of Belarusian State University, said he began to write his story about human trafficking back in 2005. Says Vasilyeu: "Human trafficking devastates the lives of young people. We need more international collaboration to stop it. Still, the majority of the people of the world don't even know that human slavery exists today."
Dimanasus Prophecy is a fictional love story between a young Belarusian guy and an American girl who unwittingly get sucked into the dark criminal world of human trafficking of women. The movie is a raw, in-your-face portrayal of human nature's ugliest sides; about our potential to allow ourselves to be controlled by avarice that's lower than that of a vicious wild animal, and by very great cruelty insensitive to the pain and suffering of others. "The movie has a surprising good ending, that is sure to challenge what we all think love is," says Vasilyeu. "I hope my movie will grab the hearts of many people all over the world, revealing to them the truth about the young 'sex slaves' of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine - our children!"
